Texas Residential Builders and Remodelers
Requirements:

A builder or remodeler may not construct new homes or engage in remodeling projects that change the living area of the home or that cost more than $10,000 for interior renovations in Texas without first registering with the commission.

Services:

The scope of this license is for the construction or remodeling of One and Two Family Dwellings

  • The filing fee for the application is $500.

Reciprocity:

As of this time, there are NO reciprocal agreements.

Continuing Education:

Builders and remodelers with active certificates of registration in good standing on August 31, 2007, must complete five (5) hours of continuing education every five (5) years. One hour must address ethics and two hours must address limited warranties, building and performance standards and the International Residence Code.

Builders and remodelers approved for registration after Sept. 1, 2007, must complete five hours in the first year of registration, including at least one hour of ethics education

Exam:

As of this time, this license does NOT require passing of an examination.
